Although I'm able to devour a hill of desserts in the afternoon-- four o'clock marking the zenith of the food craving-- my very first dish of the day must be salted: khichdi, upper, or rice, dal as well as vegetables. We such as hearty breakfasts in our household. A lighter variation might include a soup or warm salad with a saline pie, chapati, or paratha.
