Looking for a new way to serve baked avocados. It’s also an excellent way to get rid of leftovers while cleaning the refrigerator and pantry!

When I said in the introduction I am a spontaneous cook, I meant it. However, when assembling this soup, I did write down the ingredients on a notebook. A few days later I was packing for a trip and figured it is a good idea to take a notebook with. I have several notebooks around the house and grabbed the first one I saw. There was plenty of, what seemed, chicken scratch. I ripped off half of the pages. How liberating was that! A clean start. Needless to say, upon returning from the trip, I wanted to write a post about the delicious asparagus soup with coconut I had duly noted down. I paddled through all the notebooks I could find. Finally it occurred I had thrown away the pages where the recipe was. Soon I realized it wasn’t the only one. Oh well...
The ground is hidden under a golden quilt of fallen leaves and the landscape is painted with colours. Admiring the beauty of the withdrawal season, autumn, makes me count the blessings. There is so much wealth in life, in and around us.
The Happiness Research Institute, an independent think tank exploring why some societies are more content than others, reported earlier this year that Finland tops the European Happiness Equality Index in 2015. The survey differs from the UN’s World Happiness Report by evaluating how evenly the quality of life spreads within all societal layers. Somewhere there, among the rank and file of the 5.5 million happiest Europeans, I wish you a prosperous New Year! I made this sweet, gopinath, for a friend’s Christmas party. It’s a dessert I learnt to prepare when I lived in the temple ashram. The original recipe includes roasted hazelnuts, coarsely chopped, but because I piped the sweets into paper forms with a pastry bag, I omitted them. Instead of nuts, you could add orange zest to the recipe.
I dreamt about non-urban lifestyle long before we moved to the countryside last year.
Chinese noodles can be heavy, filling and fiery, such as Chinese Hot & Sour noodles, or light, clean and cleansing, like this broth and daikin noodles. These kinds of everyday soups are simple to make, require just a handful of ingredients (in this case, four ingredients – actually, three, if you don’t want to use cilantro) and so good for you.
Is a blind uncle better than no uncle, I wonder, while dropping you a recipe without any other content? Craving soup but still waiting for Fall to get here? Dairy free and gluten free, this summer a simple zucchini and corn soup full of fresh seasonal veggies will hit the spot!
It was an abundance in my garden that led me to try this. My family liked the taste so much that, from then on, I made my old-fashioned cabbage rolls recipe with dill. This is how to make easy baked garden rolls in tomato sauce recipe.

My aunt, who is in her seventies now, did a long career in Helsinki University. Besides teaching Family and Consumer Sciences, she wrote and co-authored twenty cookbooks and I acquired this delicious peach pie filling recipe some 40 years ago.
